Wastewater Products

There are many problems in efficiently reading what is in wastewater because there are so many different parameters that vary with each sample that can all lead to different environmental problems. To make the process more efficient it would be ideal to be able to measure and analyse the many fluctuations in your individual wastewater sample.

DCM can supply the equipment that would help measure these fluctuations. We can provide measurement tools and monitoring systems that allow effective reading of various parameters such as ammonia, nitrate and phosphorus. Information like this is helpful in showing:

  • Problematic elements in wastewater

  • Prevention of environmental problems

  • Reducing time and cost in measurement process

  • Continuous monitoring of difficult fluctuations

  • Maximise treatment efficiency

We can provide the instruments, installation, maintenance and online monitoring systems that are required in this process, along with extensive knowledge and experience that has been gained from many years of working in the business.

Ammonia analysers of different principles are available to measure ammonia. Ammonium measurement for influent, aeration tank and final effluent applications is offered.

Features:

  • Continuous measurement

  • No sample preparation

  • No filtration required

  • Programmable concentration alarms

  • Automatic calibration (depending on the device)

Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)

UV-VIS spectrometer can be applied to display BOD data for the most waste types via correlations between UV/VIS spectra and lab BOD values. This technology allows you to measure numerous parameters all at the same time that usually require the use of several different cabinet analysers. Parameter concentrations from g/l down to the µg/l region are calculated from the complete UV/Visible spectrum, enabling a level of precision and long term stability.

All of the functions of a high quality full spectrum spectrometer are available with ultra-compact and robust field mountable sensor configurations. Spectral information for rapid and effective investigative work on almost any liquid stream from dirty industrial waste to ultra pure water is available.

Applications for Waste Water

  • 0.5 mm to >10 mm measuring path

  • Industrial Waste Monitoring in Petrochem, Food, Chem industries

  • Providing measurement in concentrated industrial waste through to final effluent mf/RO applications

  • Sewer dissolved sulphide and total sulfide load monitoring

  • Inlet load monitoring to industrial and municipal WWTPs

  • Feed forward control of chemical dosing to DAF , coagulation and other treatment processes

  • Control of carbon dosing and denitrification systems

  • Monitoring for compliance of discharges to the environment.

Features

  • Multi parameter including BOD

  • Real time

  • Robust and versatile

  • In-situ

  • Drift free

  • Almost zero maintenance

  • Low operation costs

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)

Full spectrum UV-VIS spectrometers are optical multi-parameter probes, using advanced mathematics to analyse the full UV/VIS spectrum via site specific algorithms .

A COD output provides a perfect system for trade waste compliance monitoring, while also capable of providing waste characterisation and more.

Conductivity

Conductivity sensors are available in a wide range of measuring ranges and with specific features to operate reliably for ultra clean water to highly conductive fluids. DCM specializes in ensuring you have the right sensor for your application.

Automated Coagulant Dosing for Phosphorous Removal

Compass, in conjunction with a UV-VIS spectrometer, accurately and continuously measures the coagulant demand exerted by the constituents in the wastewater and uses either the output of an existing ortho P analyser or a surrogate parameter for ortho P from the UV-VIS spectrometer unit to calculate the needed coagulant. The specific Metal Ion you use for removal of P for a given site can then be accurately controlled.

Compass CPR is an online coagulant dose controller. It will automatically control the coagulant dose to achieve effluent phosphate limits by providing a predicted coagulant mass dose output (mg/L) to the plant control system. This needs to be converted to a volumetric dose using the plant flow. The coagulant dose pumps are then controlled to deliver the required volumetric coagulant dose.

Dissolved Oxygen (D.O.)

This product utilises the latest technology for measurement of Dissolved Oxygen and temperature. An optical multi-parameter probe that measures directly in the water. It does not need a minimum flow to produce accurate readings and integrates the temperature measurement for On-Line correction. DCM provides the expertise and the product to achieve minimal conventional calibration and virtually zero maintenance for your application.

Nitrate (NO3)

UV-VIS spectrometers are optical multi-parameter probe, using advanced mathematics to analyse the full UV/VIS spectrum. The units provide a nitrate output. Perfect for trade waste compliance monitoring, wastewater treatment process control , discharge and compliance monitoring and river ecology and activity monitoring. Bore applications for groundwater are also standard.

Total Organic Carbon (TOC)

UV-VIS spectrometers measuring a full spectrum from 200nm to 720nm allow determination of TOC by measuring the absorptions caused by organic compounds and particulate material in the UV/VIS spectrum. This is then linked mathematically via a site specific algorithm to the lab TOC.

If you would like to know more about Total Organic Carbon (TOC) please contact us.

Toxicity (TOX)

Toxicity in wastewater is a complex and often under estimated issue. Interpretations of what is meant by toxicity are wide and generally application /industry specific. DCM has extensive experience in this area and by using UV-VIS spectrometer and additional sensors can analyse your wastewater samples, link them to inhibition and then advise the best pathway to achieve a suitable mitigation or prevention outcome for your application.

Turbidity & Suspended Solids

Different Turbidity and Suspended Solids sensors using different techniques are available.

Correctly configured UV-VIS spectrometers provide chemical free measurement of not only nitrate but COD, Suspended Solids and a Turbidity surrogate along with other data . Designed to operate in high solids settling applications it is ideal for control of carbon dosing for nitrate reduction or aeration set point control in STPs while also informing you of the MLSS concentration.
